Tei-An named one of Dallas' Seven Best Lunches

Thank you to the Dallas Observer for naming Tei-An as one of the seven best lunch spots in Dallas in the article "Seven of Dallas' Best Lunches That Are More Than Worth Your Hard-Earned Dough" by Scott Reitz. Reitz said of Tei-An, "I've written about Tei-An's ramen dish a ton, but there are many menu items that won't break the bank for lunch. This Matsutake Soba costs $19 because the mushrooms it uses are so expensive. If it's too pricey try any of the other soba dishes (all of which are cheaper) or the jewelry box lunch, which is only $14."

I think we know where we'll be going tomorrow!  Read the full article here.

The Greek - menu

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of dining at The Greek (our newest restaurant at One Arts Plaza) for lunch.  We started our meal with the Artichoke Dip and the Drunken Mushrooms.  Let's just say you can't go wrong with either of those options and you DEFINITELY might be requesting a second round of the unreal grilled pita bread.

For lunch, a friend ordered the Athens City Chicken Salad which she said was the perfect amount of fresh and filling.  I went for the Chicken on the Plaka which was equally delicious.  The chicken is moist and savory with just the right amount of flavor.  Next time - we plan on saving room for dessert! We can't wait to return .... tonight maybe?

Soy braised Kabocha pumpkin at Tei-An (photo by Carol Shih)

Tei-An on D Side Dish:
It was wonderful to see Tei-An noted in "Four Fall Favories: The Pumpkin Roundup" for their Soy braised Kabocha pumpkin. Carol Shih wrote on DSide Dish, "Tei-An holds a special place in my heart. Everything that comes out of Teiichi’s kitchen should be preserved in a special food museum so future generations can get a taste of this Japanese food art that’s happening in One Arts Plaza. Kabocha pumpkins, which I spotted at Tian Tian Supermarket in Richardson this weekend, are Japanese pumpkins that are a pain in the assassin to cut open. It requires a special knife and a very strong arm. But once you figure out a way to open this ugly, green, squat-looking pumpkin, the juicy insides are worth all that work. But once you figure out a way to open this ugly, green, squat-looking pumpkin, the juicy insides are worth all that work. Teiichi serves a slice of seaweed over his braised kakobcha pumpkin slices ($4.00), which sit in a bed of savory soy broth."

The Greek - Coming Soon to One Arts Plaza

The Greek Pita, Meze, Wine will open its doors at One Arts Plaza on October 15th!  The new restaurant concept from Mary and Costa Arabatzis, owner of Ziziki's and Ziziki's Taverna, will feature fresh, flavorful dishes, all with the same delicious ingredients that have been popular at Ziziki's for nearly 20 years. Richard Silva will join the team as Director of Culinary Operations.

“As the menu evolved and expanded from a focus on solely mezes (small plates) to pitas, mezes and big platters, we found the name Meze was too limiting and confused the public who did notimmediately recognize that meze was Greek,” said Mary Arabatzis, co-owner.  “Thus, THE GREEK – Pita, Meze, Wine is a perfect description.  We cannot wait to open our doors and let everyone enjoy the fruits of our labor!”

Jason Kosmas, a renowned mixologist and a Greek American, will collaborate on the bar cocktail menu utilizing unique ingredients and paired to perfection with the new menu items.

Look for new menu items including the Greek Dip (a roasted leg of lamb, horseradish smear and lamb jus on a crispy baguette), the Crispy Pork Pita (marinated pork and Greek spices smothered with Greek slaw) and the Grilled Steak and Fried Egg Pita (thinlysliced grilled steak and balsamic onions topped with an over-easy egg).

HOURS: The Greek will be open Sunday – Thursday from 11am-10pm, Friday and Saturday, 11am-12 midnight.  For reservations, please call (214) 999-1311.

Valet parking is complimentary at lunch and $5 at dinner with validation.
