NEW Pre-Theater Prix Fixe Menu makes debut at Proof+Pantry

It's that time of year here in the Dallas Arts District and we love it! This week opens Dallas Theater Center's production of Dreamgirls, the iconic musical that follows the ups and downs of an African-American musical group as they journey to become stars. You know it for the iconic Jennifer Holliday belt out song... "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going."

And we're telling you that our very own Proof+Pantry premiers a new Pre-Theater Prix Fixe menu featuring three delicious courses plus a cocktail for just $45 per person plus tax! It's only for a limited time until July 24th, but it's well worth it. Any theater lover knows how important it is to get in and out before dashing to a show and the guys at Proof+Pantry have you covered. Reservations are required starting at 5:00pm for the earliest sitting but no later than 6:30pm for the last, especially if your show start at 8:00pm!

Check out the details below and a sneak peek of the menu (it's only available until July 24th). And don't forget, reservations are required so call 214-880-9940 today and be sure to let them know you want their "Pre-Theater Prix Fixe" menu when you do!

Don't have your tickets to the show, there is still time to grab a seat. Visit Dallas Theater Center's website for show times and tickets.

The Holidays With Cafe des Artistes

We loved taking a peek inside one of Dallas' favorite new restaurants, Cafe des Artistes, to see their holiday decor here at One Arts Plaza! It's decorated so beautifully this month and we hope you can enjoy a holiday happy hour or dinner with those near and dear to you and enjoy the ambiance.   Our favorites: the bar (so elegant), the menus (so creative), and the player piano (so fun)!

Be sure to visit their new website here for hours, reservations, and menu information.  Wishing you the happiest of holidays from everyone here at One Arts Plaza! Cheers!

Cafe des Artistes in One Arts Plaza announces chef: Texas native David Garwacki

Thank you to the Dallas News Eats blog for this great piece on the Cafe des Artistes.  Our new restaurant from Alberto Lombardi (coming soon to One Arts Plaza) has announced its executive chef - Texas native David Garwacki.

Check out the full scoop here.  We can't wait for opening night!

The Greek - Coming Soon to One Arts Plaza

The Greek Pita, Meze, Wine will open its doors at One Arts Plaza on October 15th!  The new restaurant concept from Mary and Costa Arabatzis, owner of Ziziki's and Ziziki's Taverna, will feature fresh, flavorful dishes, all with the same delicious ingredients that have been popular at Ziziki's for nearly 20 years. Richard Silva will join the team as Director of Culinary Operations.

“As the menu evolved and expanded from a focus on solely mezes (small plates) to pitas, mezes and big platters, we found the name Meze was too limiting and confused the public who did notimmediately recognize that meze was Greek,” said Mary Arabatzis, co-owner.  “Thus, THE GREEK – Pita, Meze, Wine is a perfect description.  We cannot wait to open our doors and let everyone enjoy the fruits of our labor!”

Jason Kosmas, a renowned mixologist and a Greek American, will collaborate on the bar cocktail menu utilizing unique ingredients and paired to perfection with the new menu items.

Look for new menu items including the Greek Dip (a roasted leg of lamb, horseradish smear and lamb jus on a crispy baguette), the Crispy Pork Pita (marinated pork and Greek spices smothered with Greek slaw) and the Grilled Steak and Fried Egg Pita (thinlysliced grilled steak and balsamic onions topped with an over-easy egg).

HOURS: The Greek will be open Sunday – Thursday from 11am-10pm, Friday and Saturday, 11am-12 midnight.  For reservations, please call (214) 999-1311.

Valet parking is complimentary at lunch and $5 at dinner with validation.

iPhone Vid of Arts District

Michelle Carrig managed to grab some cool video with her new iPhone 3GS from the 46th floor of Chase Tower (DowntownDallas.org offices). You can see shots of the Winspear and Wyly.

Truth is I'm terrified of heights, and watching this video makes my palms sweat. I'm glad Michelle was up there and not me. This fall I'll be enjoying all the new venues in the Arts District from ground level.

Have to say though, I'm pretty impressed with the video power of the iPhone. May need to upgrade.
