Savor the Symphony

Last night we kicked off the 2009 Dallas symphony season with a rare and exclusive event inside one of the condos at One Arts Plaza. The stylish and intimate affair was wonderfully catered by 108 Catering, and featured entertainment by guitarist Terry Hankins. Guests sipped wine, mingled, laughed, and chatted about the exciting new season.

The Garden Gate provided floral decorations, and M&M Special Events furnished the tables, plates and glasses. Photographer Jerry McClure captured this moment in time beautifully.

This season the symphony features works by Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Liszt, and performances by Branford Marsailis. Season at a glance.

We look forward to another great year of music.

44 Places to Go in 2009

Thanks primarily to the Dallas Arts District, Dallas made The New York Times list of top places to go in 2009. Ranked 17th out of 44, our city sits among such notable destinations as Brazil, Rome, Cologne, Star Island and Bhutan (quite an impressive group).

The positive change happening in the Dallas Arts District is drawing a lot of national press. People are seeing something in downtown Dallas they never thought possible.

"Everything is bigger in Texas, and the Dallas art district is no exception. Billed as 'the largest urban arts district in the United States,' the 19-block area gets bigger when the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts opens Oct. 12."

We're very excited about the next few years. As things continue to vigorously expand, our neighborhood and our quality of life will be all the better for it.

Brook Shields Shines at Brinker Forum

One Arts Plaza was very proud to sponsor the Brooke Shields (Pretty Baby, Suddenly Susan) lecture at the Brinker International Forum on November 25.

An iconic figure in television, theater and film, Shields is an engaging and intriguing figure who shared her insight on life and her career. A graduate of Princeton, Shields is also the author of several books including the children’s book Welcome to Your World, Baby.

7-Eleven Correction

Participating 7-Eleven stores will be offering a free cup of coffee on New Year's Eve. However, the flagship 7-Eleven at the Plaza is not open 24-hours. So no free "joe".

Sorry for the confusion.

Ever wonder why they have locks on the doors for the ones that are open 24-hours?

Jorge's Review

Jorge's Tex-Mex received a nice review from Teresa Gubbins over at the Star-Telegram. I have not had Jorge's chile rellenos, raved about in the article for being part of the healthy fare--I'm used to my chile rellenos being anything but healthy. Now my curiosity is piqued!

Count Down the New Year at One Arts Plaza

Outdoor light celebration and entertainment

(DALLAS, Texas) – One Arts Plaza, the 24-story multi-use building in Dallas’ Arts District, will ring in the New Year with outdoor plaza entertainment and a countdown from its illuminated iconic square, including a multi-color light celebration at the stroke of midnight.

One Arts guests and restaurant patrons can enjoy the musical styling of Percussion Things, led by Len Barnett, on Wednesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. in the plaza. Beginning at 11:00 p.m. the six-story lighted square, comprised of approximately 300 LED light modules, will go black before converting to a clock to count down the final hour of 2008. As each minute passes, a single light representing the minute will be added until the entire square is illuminated at midnight. As revelers usher in the New Year, the custom light display will flash multiple colors for a spectacular “firework-inspired” display.

All One Arts Plaza restaurants will be open on New Year’s Eve. Both restaurant patrons and the general public are invited to celebrate outside in the plaza for this inaugural event.

New Year's Eve at Fedora

Fedora is a great party place to usher in 2009. Gina Campisi's restaurant and bar is always jumpin', and December 31st will be no different. Enjoy a five-course dinner followed by a NYE Soiree.
Dinner includes appetizer, choice of salad, pasta, choice of entrée, dessert, and complimentary glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc champagne.

The NYE Soiree includes complimentary hors d’oeurves from 9-11pm, a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and the perfect vantage point to see the One Arts Plaza countdown.

Bottle service for tables also available. Click here for details, or call Michelle 214-392-8996.
