7-Eleven Correction

Participating 7-Eleven stores will be offering a free cup of coffee on New Year's Eve. However, the flagship 7-Eleven at the Plaza is not open 24-hours. So no free "joe".

Sorry for the confusion.

Ever wonder why they have locks on the doors for the ones that are open 24-hours?

Jorge's Review

Jorge's Tex-Mex received a nice review from Teresa Gubbins over at the Star-Telegram. I have not had Jorge's chile rellenos, raved about in the article for being part of the healthy fare--I'm used to my chile rellenos being anything but healthy. Now my curiosity is piqued!

Count Down the New Year at One Arts Plaza

Outdoor light celebration and entertainment

(DALLAS, Texas) – One Arts Plaza, the 24-story multi-use building in Dallas’ Arts District, will ring in the New Year with outdoor plaza entertainment and a countdown from its illuminated iconic square, including a multi-color light celebration at the stroke of midnight.

One Arts guests and restaurant patrons can enjoy the musical styling of Percussion Things, led by Len Barnett, on Wednesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. in the plaza. Beginning at 11:00 p.m. the six-story lighted square, comprised of approximately 300 LED light modules, will go black before converting to a clock to count down the final hour of 2008. As each minute passes, a single light representing the minute will be added until the entire square is illuminated at midnight. As revelers usher in the New Year, the custom light display will flash multiple colors for a spectacular “firework-inspired” display.

All One Arts Plaza restaurants will be open on New Year’s Eve. Both restaurant patrons and the general public are invited to celebrate outside in the plaza for this inaugural event.

New Year's Eve at Fedora

Fedora is a great party place to usher in 2009. Gina Campisi's restaurant and bar is always jumpin', and December 31st will be no different. Enjoy a five-course dinner followed by a NYE Soiree.
Dinner includes appetizer, choice of salad, pasta, choice of entrée, dessert, and complimentary glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc champagne.

The NYE Soiree includes complimentary hors d’oeurves from 9-11pm, a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and the perfect vantage point to see the One Arts Plaza countdown.

Katy Trail, Dallas Arts District

Executive Director Eric Van Steenburg, Friends of the Katy Trail , explains how the Katy Trail will one day run through the Dallas Arts District. This plan is a huge step towards changing the aesthetic of downtown Dallas into a more pedestrian-friendly place to live, work and play. With the coming of Two Arts, Three Arts, the Opera House and Performance Park, one can but dream of how beautiful Dallas' Arts District will be in just a few years.

We're Giddy About This

Time for some shameless self-promotion (what blog isn't full of that?). We are extremely proud to say that two of our Plaza restaurants have been picked by D Magazine in their Best New Restaurants of 2008.
Teiichi Sakurai's Tei An, and Paul Pinnell's Dali both received this high honor. When you can boast having these great restaurants within walking distance of each other...well you can't blame us for strutting just a little.

Congratulations Paul and Teiichi!

New Years at the Plaza

It's not too late to plan for the final evening of the year. There's going to be a special treat involving the "glowing square" (think New York City). Plus we have five different restaurants, each with its own unique flavor, to entice your taste buds. So make your reservations today.

Besides, do you really need an excuse to open a bottle of champagne?

Holiday Tradition at One Arts

I don't know about you, but I love Christmas music. I don't know why, I just do. I even like the cheesy remakes of songs by celebrities like Mariah Carey and David Bowie. And yes I had that annoying Chipmunks Christmas album when I was little (my poor, poor parents). But there's nothing better than the standards produced by a real choir. This month at One Arts, we'll have carolers performing Thursdays, December 4th-18th, from 7-8pm. Please, treat yourself to a night of good cheer.

Two Arts Plaza Video

We just finished our video for Two Arts Plaza. This is a fun, cool video featuring Lucy Billingsley, Peter Riley—Managing Partner at Thompson & Knight LLP, Joseph DePinto—President and CEO of 7-Eleven, and others talking about the changes going on in the Dallas Arts District.
