We've added more entertainment for the month of December. There will be holiday performers (either a solo artist or small group) Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through the 20th of December. Check our calendar for updates.
New Years at the Plaza
It's not too late to plan for the final evening of the year. There's going to be a special treat involving the "glowing square" (think New York City). Plus we have five different restaurants, each with its own unique flavor, to entice your taste buds. So make your reservations today.
Besides, do you really need an excuse to open a bottle of champagne?

Holiday Tradition at One Arts
I don't know about you, but I love Christmas music. I don't know why, I just do. I even like the cheesy remakes of songs by celebrities like Mariah Carey and David Bowie. And yes I had that annoying Chipmunks Christmas album when I was little (my poor, poor parents). But there's nothing better than the standards produced by a real choir. This month at One Arts, we'll have carolers performing Thursdays, December 4th-18th, from 7-8pm. Please, treat yourself to a night of good cheer.
Two Arts Plaza Video
We just finished our video for Two Arts Plaza. This is a fun, cool video featuring Lucy Billingsley, Peter Riley—Managing Partner at Thompson & Knight LLP, Joseph DePinto—President and CEO of 7-Eleven, and others talking about the changes going on in the Dallas Arts District.
Our Condos and Cantoni Go Hand in Hand

Here's a great story about one of our residents, Kay Buttigieg, and how she found Cantoni designs to be the perfect fit for her new lifestyle at One Arts Plaza.

Plaza Neighbors, Great Things to Come
Last Thursday at One Arts Plaza, Keri Kaiser, Development Director for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, explained the wonderful things happening next door to One Arts Plaza.
With ten acres of performing arts venues, things are really flourishing in the Dallas Arts District. Together we're all helping to create the downtown Dallas we've always dreamed of.

Dine Around: Tei An

I'd like to throw out a special thank you to Teiichi for a wonderful meal on Wednesday. A co-worker and I worked late at the Plaza and decided to continue our personal dine-around. I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture, so Tei An was my first choice. The setting was serene, the lighting perfect, and gentle lounge music completed the mood. I love a restaurant where you can have a conversation with the person next to you without having to raise your voice.
Teiichi came out and greeted us and talked a little shop, then we let him pick our meal. It was fantastic. I'm not a food critic, so my descriptions would sound ridiculous. However, I highly recommend what we had: white seaweed salad, tuna tartar, beef on the rock (melts in your mouth), whitefish tempura, and then finish it off with some curry soba noodles. The only thing missing at Tei An are little beds where you could nap until you're hungry again.
Fedora Grand Opening

We've all heard a lot of buzz about when Fedora was going to have their grand opening. Well here's the skinny...
This Saturday, November 22nd, Fedora is celebrating its grand opening in style. Paul Salos from "America's Got Talent" will be there from 7-11pm singing Sinatra greats. There will be complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 5-7pm with music by The Josh Goode Band.
The grand opening benefits Assist the Officers Foundation.

Had Breakfast at Jorge's

Yeah, I'm one of those weird guys who takes photos of his food.
I was doing a little work out at the Plaza, and realized that I'd been up for almost four hours without eating. What the heck, let's grab some breakfast at Jorge's. I'm sure it's "pretty good".
Does the phrase "blown away" mean anything to you? Yeah, they were that good. I ordered the three soft, flour tortillas with egg, cheese and chorizo. The tacos are Texas-size and chocked full of egg & chorizo. Then on the side they offer a small cup of ranchero salsa--a green tomato style salsa that was the perfect spice mix. All next to a bed of fried potatoes, tomatoes and jalapenos; with refried beans in case you somehow have any room left. Oh, and did I mention they stack two pieces of bacon on top of the whole thing? Holy smokes! All I could think of was that line from Pulp Fiction, "bacon tastes goooood".
I have to admit I couldn't finish all of mine--but i still had some dessert. They were kind enough to treat me to a delicious sopapilla, covered with powdered sugar and a side of honey. Mmmmm!!!
Gracias, Elizabeth!
Jorge's Post-Turkey Day Brunch
You know that weird hump day right after Thanksgiving? The day where you're stuck with a house full of relatives, and you have to sit and listen to your uncle tell that story about the time he was lost in the jungle with only a compass and a Swiss Army knife while your cousins devour the last remains of the pumpkin pie. Don't you wish you could get out of the house and do something fun this year?
Well Jorge's is coming to your rescue with a special Post-Turkey Day Brunch. From 8am to 4pm you can come in and get $6 bottomless mimosas (with entrée) and $7 Jorge's martinis all day. Make your reservations now. Then tell your cousins you have to run out to get more Cool Whip.

Josh Goode Band, 11/21 and 11/28

The Josh Good Band will be performing two acoustic sets at One Arts Plaza this month.
Their sound is multi-faceted, including rock, pop and hints of jazz. According to their Myspace page, influences include: The Scabs, John Mayer, Bob Schneider, Tower of Power, Rush, Sergei Rachmaninov, Jason Mraz, Ben Folds, and Dream Theater.
Should be a good show!
November Events
It's an election year. That means we've all been thoroughly bludgeoned by campaign ads, flashy CNN logos, annoying conspiracy emails and SNL skits. So now that it's almost over, let's get back to thinking about what makes us really happy— Going out on the town, of course!
We've added some great shows to our calendar including the varied styles of Goga, the rock-pop sound of the Josh Goode Band, and the classic-country talents of the Casey James Band.

Virtual Tour of One Arts Plaza

Well there’s nothing quite like being at the Plaza, but with today’s technology you can at least take a virtual tour on your PC while waiting to get off work.
Things are really starting to cool off, so you’ll probably want to get down to One Arts this week and enjoy the last of the sunshine before the time change. Of course if you’re a native Texan you’ll want to eat inside—‘cause to us, 60 degrees is freezing!

Urban Pedigree

When people think about urban living, they immediately think they’ll have to give up owning a pet. This isn’t the case at One Arts Plaza. In fact, we love animals so much we’ve decided to do a profile on some of the great dogs of OAP.
Many of the residents have told us how wonderful it is to be able to keep a dog in their home. It was important to them to not lose something so basic as owning a pet just because they decided to give up all of that landscaping in Highland Park.
And what do the pets think of urban living? Sure there aren’t any squirrels to chase, but when the concierge hands you a doggy treat and a pat on the head…,well city life ain’t so bad.
We’ll be featuring profiles of each dog in the weeks to come. We may even have an online contest so you can vote for your favorite pooch.

Hmmm…I wonder how much hate mail we’re going to get from cats…?
Dine Like a Pharaoh
Our restaurants got a nice little plug over on dallasnews.com. Thanks for that NY strip description—I'm starving! Good thing it's almost 5:30.
Feelin' Blue, Cowboy?
So, your team is in a slump. You're wondering if Romo and the Boys will be watching the Super Bowl at home again this year.
Let's look on the brighter side of life! You can still come out to Jorge's tonight. Remember: it's Margarita Mondays—only $6!
See, now don't you feel better? You can always look at the silver lining like Coach Wade.
