JM Gallery's Opening Reception: Illumination featuring Diana Antohe and Michael Sutton, Saturday, February 27th

Join us tomorrow evening at JM Gallery for the opening reception of Illumination from 5-8 p.m. To celebrate its first anniversary, JM Gallery presents a collection of abstract, multilayered vistas by Michael Sutton and Diana Antohe that appear familiar yet exotic. Michael works in glass and steel to create images that evoke satellite views of a radiant earth. Diana’s hand-colored etchings offer intimate views of a dream world filled with balletic lines and glowing color.

Park to Link Uptown with Downtown Dallas

Yesterday Dallas celebrated the start of construction for the new 5.2-acre Woodall Rodgers Deck Park that will add a link between Uptown and Downtown Dallas. This $77 million park will be constructed above Woodall Rodgers turning the freeway into a tunnel.

I can't tell you how badly this city needs that park. It will completely change the complexion of the area.

iPhone Vid of Arts District

Michelle Carrig managed to grab some cool video with her new iPhone 3GS from the 46th floor of Chase Tower (DowntownDallas.org offices). You can see shots of the Winspear and Wyly.

Truth is I'm terrified of heights, and watching this video makes my palms sweat. I'm glad Michelle was up there and not me. This fall I'll be enjoying all the new venues in the Arts District from ground level.

Have to say though, I'm pretty impressed with the video power of the iPhone. May need to upgrade.

DALLAS (Aug. 19, 2009) — The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation has named Thomas Phifer and Partners as the architect for the 6,000 square-foot restaurant and the performance pavilion, two central amenities planned for the 5.2 acre deck park that will span over the freeway between Uptown and Downtown Dallas. DCPA Lexus Broadway Series

A friend and I attended the unveiling of the Lexus Broadway Series yesterday at Booker T. high. Several gentlemen from Lexus were there to receive kind words from Mark Nerenhausen, President/CEO of DCPA, and a big round of applause for their hard work.

The inaugural season is going to be great! We were even treated to a song from Spring Awakening by two wonderful, young performers.

The inaugural season tickets are on sale now for: August:Osage County, Avenue Q, South Pacific, and Spring Awakening. It's going to be a great season of music and theater. See you there!
